Immediately when pulling into Wildacre Rotisserie’s parking lot, there is a relaxing, welcoming vibe of the storefront. Cos Cob was lucky enough to welcome the restaurant this past June, bringing wonderful options for eating healthy, tasty, and quick comfort meals for both lunch and dinner.

The neutral colors and natural lighting are the first things you notice upon entering the restaurant. The layout of the store is extremely open, with plenty of tables to eat in or lots of space to wait for takeout. The staff is lovely, greeting customers with a smile and offering suggestions. Owner Ben Pote is extremely hands-on, down to earth, and has plenty of experience in the food industry. He formerly worked for Sweetgreen and Starbucks, before handcrafting the Wildacre menu and opening up in Cos Cob.

The Wildacre menu has something for everyone to try. Of course, their pasture-raised rotisserie chicken is what they are known for. Upon entering the store, you see the rotisserie chicken being slowly roasted behind the counter. Rotisserie chicken is available for order as a quarter, half, or whole. Additionally, you can order a family meal, a quarter chicken meal, or a kid’s meal which comes with a side and a sauce. We tried the quarter chicken meal, with a side of their famous roti potatoes. These potatoes are roasted underneath the rotisserie chicken and are perfectly flavorful.

Although Wildacre is known for its rotisserie chicken, they actually sell more brussel sprouts than anything else on the menu. Their crispy brussels come as a side order, made with date syrup and sesame seeds. After hearing about how popular they are, we had to try an order. Let me just say, they were the best brussel sprouts I have ever had. Perfectly crispy, perfectly sweet, just perfect. Besides the brussel sprouts, other sides vary from fries, kale slaw, cucumber salad, cauliflower, and salad.

If you’re more in the mood for a lighter meal for lunch, Wildacre has salads! Just recently, they have expanded their menu to have each salad be made into a wrap as well. We tried the Pacifica salad, which was outstanding. Owner Ben Pote, Sweetgreen’s previous director of culinary strategy is quite the expert when it comes to crafting salads. The flavors complement each other perfectly, and everything is especially fresh. Ben says that Wildacre is always looking to add new things to the menu, so be sure to continue checking it out. The California influence shows up throughout the menu, which features ingredients like fennel pollen, meyer lemon, and avocado, and flavors inspired by Mediterranean, Central American, and Asian cuisines.

If you aren’t familiar with them, Feel Good Booch is a local kombucha company, driven by flavor, craft fermented to make you Feel Good. Feel Good Booch has partnered with Wilacre to handcraft drinks that will pair perfectly with each meal. How cool is that? We tried the meyer lemon, mandarin, and fennel flavors, which complemented the Pacifica salad nicely. They are delicious, and a must-try if you are a fan of kombucha!
