During my visit to Bricks and Minifigs I had the pleasure of interviewing owner Lindsay, one of the very knowledgeable owners. She shared her story of how she began her journey with Legos.
What made you want to open up this location?
We learned about Bricks & Minifigs after visiting one in CA on vacation, and as a family who loves LEGO®, our wheels started turning! As parents, we understand firsthand the connection and creativity LEGO creates, and we really loved the idea of a space for people to shop and gather around LEGO products. We also had SO many built LEGO sets at home, that when we found out there was a location in Southington, CT we wanted to experience the unique buy/sell/trade model. We brought in a few sets we were ready to part with, and traded them in for something new! Between our love of LEGO and how helpful it can be for parents to be able to trade in their old LEGO products, we were sold. We knew we had to bring it to Fairfield! We love raising our family here and thought this would be an amazing addition to the community.
What will you offer at the store?
As an authorized LEGO retailer, we offer brand new sets, pre-built used sets, retired sets, and certified used sets. We also have 30 ft of cases full of minifigures to buy, as well as a minifig-maker table where you can make your own. We also sell bulk LEGO pieces, accessories and books!
How does this store differentiate from an “Official Lego” store?
The LEGO® store sells only current new sets, where we sell new, used and retired sets. We also are unique in that we sell minifigures individually, as well as bulk LEGO pieces!
What age is this store geared towards?
Our store is for people of all ages! We sell everything from LEGO DUPLO sets for 2 and up, to all the best sets that kids love (Ninjago, Dreamz, Harry Potter), to beautiful collectible sets and minifigures that adults love too. We are also a great place for AFOLS (the acronym for Adult Fans Of Lego) who look for rare and retired sets, or who maybe want to use our bulk tables to find the pieces for their own creative builds. We believe that LEGO is for EVERYONE and want our store to reflect that!
How will you be getting the community involved?
Our party room is going to be used for so many fun things to bring in the community! We offer birthday parties for ages 5 and up. We also plan to offer classes for LEGO lovers of all ages – from Stop Motion LEGO Animation, to creative building techniques, to robotics. We look forward to hosting family build nights and derby races on our custom track. We also plan to invite groups into our space for social skills building, after-school clubs, and camps. We also plan to open our space to parents of young kids during the day, and senior centers to facilitate activities that are creative and help maintain fine motor skills. The possibilities are endless and we plan to make Bricks & Minifigs a welcoming space for all!
What are your daily hours?
We are open 10am-7pm Monday-Saturday, and 10am-4pm Sundays.
My interview with Lindsay provided a deep insight into the world of Legos and the dedication required to run such a successful retail store. Her passion and commitment to the Lego community is truly inspiring. Fairfield is fortunate to have such a dedicated and innovated business.
