Jazz In The Vines, a three-day indoor music celebration is coming to Aquila’s Nest Vineyards April 19– 21. This year’s lineup features renowned jazz artists as well as students from Western Connecticut State University’s jazz program.
FRIDAY
Friday, April 19th, The Dirty Martinis (6pm – 9pm), offer the best in mainstream jazz to audiences in Connecticut. Members of the quintet are Andrei Lopukhin, bass; Dan Cook, guitar; Matt Augustine, drums; Scott Chamberland, saxophone and Tom Schmidt on keys.
SATURDAY
Saturday, April 20th lineup consists of Sundad Jazz Quartet (1pm – 4pm), their original repertoire consists of acoustic guitar instrumentals that have been described as a blend of “World Fusion and New Age” music. Sundad’s 1st CD, Journey To Eternity earned them Best New Artist and Best Acoustic Instrumental Album nominations from Zone Music Reporter and a 1st round Grammy Nomination for Best Contemporary World album.; Judson Jazz Quartet (5pm – 8pm) a powerful local jazz quartet performing the jazz and swing music that dominated the airwave and dancehalls during the 1930s, 40s and 50s.
SUNDAY
Sunday, April 21st will feature Western Connecticut State University’s Elijah Atkins’ Jazz Trio (12pm – 3pm) under the direction of Grammy-nominated saxophonist, composer and WCSU Professor of Music Dr. Jimmy Greene. Elijah Atkins is an emerging drummer from Meriden, CT who regularly performs in a variety of genre-spanning projects throughout New England. Next up will be Triple Bock Jazz Quintet (4pm – 7pm), playing an eclectic mix of contemporary and jazz classics with a touch of R&B, Motown and Funk. With Triple Bock, expect the unexpected!
20% of ticket sales will be donated to the Ana Grace Márquez-Greene Endowed Music Scholarship at Western Connecticut State University.
In addition to the music, attendees can separately purchase Aquila’s Nest wine to sip while enjoying delectable delights from The Crepe Hut, Greek Crave food trucks.
Wine is not included in the ticket. A drink purchase of minimum $10 plus tax and gratuity per participant is required to attend this event and can be made at the vineyard prior to the start of the event, after our staff checks your ID.
Outside Alcohol Beverages, Water Bottles or Any Other Beverages are NOT allowed to be brought in the premises of the vineyard. This is a restriction of our Farm Winery Permit. Our staff reserves the right to check bags and coolers.
