“Living history” expert Dennis Picard will demonstrate medicinal concoctions of colonial times using herbs from Stanley-Whitman House’s gardens. Enjoy this program free as part of CT’s Historic Gardens Day! Registration required.
// ABOUT FOODWAYS //
Food in colonial times was much different compared to what we eat today. Religious beliefs, traditions, geography, growing season, harvest, and cooking methods all played a role in what was available and how much was eaten with each region developing their own unique dietary habits. “Living history” expert Dennis Picard will share anecdotes about New England colonial life while demonstrating a variety of cooking methods and recipes from colonial times.
// ABOUT THE MUSEUM //
