Join Cars for Cows benefit event on Sunday, November 5th at 9am for coffee and cars! See all your favorite sports cars like the Porsche 911 and Ferraris. All money donated will benefit Howvale Farm to recover from tremendous flooding over the summer. Howvale was deeply impacted by the flooding and might even have to consider selling their cows to keep up with feeding the other live stock.

See our Q+A with Margot~ the kind girl who created this event in support of Howvale Farm!

Tell us about yourself!

“Margot is an 8th grader at Roger Ludlowe Middle School in Fairfield.”

What are some important details about Cars for Cows: Why is it happening?

“Cars and coffee came to be after my parents and I discussed the damage that was caused by the flooding in parts of Vermont this summer. My mom and I did a gravel bike ride called The Ranger, which supports the community of Tunbridge, VT. This summer the Ranger opened registration early in order to get entry fees in and distributed to the community. We registered, but I wanted to do more. I really like cars and I like the idea of bringing people together for a good cause.”

Do you have any special connection to this farm? Is there a direct link to donate?

“I do! Though my first visit to Howvale Farm was in 2022 at The Ranger (the first few miles of the course are on Howvale’s property) the connection is actually much deeper. My grandparents are both UVM grads and their friend actually grew up on the farm and her brother currently runs it. There is not a direct link to the farm, but I have a Venmo account that will accept donations and I will send all of the proceeds to Rob at Howvale Farm. “

What food will be offered?

” Gabriele’s is open for brunch and their full brunch menu will be available. They normally open at 11:30, but offered to open at 11:00 on November 5th.”

Are you selling tickets?

“We aren’t charging a fee or selling tickets. I just want to bring people together over some cool cars and for a great cause. I hope people will donate. I also designed a logo that I’m putting on some hats and shirts that I’ll be selling. The proceeds will be donated. “

Is there any other info you’d like to share?

“I don’t think people fully understand how hard it is to be an independent farmer and when floods destroy your hayfields it is hard to feed your cows. In fact, Rob is afraid that he might have to sell some of his cows just to afford food for the others. It’s hard to be a dairy farmer without cows. I know a lot of people in Westport and Fairfield have strong connections to Vermont and I think it is important that we show our support during a very difficult time. “

Please consider coming to this event and donating for a great cause. Vermont is a sacred place for us northerners and we need to show support during these tough times. We hope to see you there!
