Nobody puts the Baby in King Cake like Little Pub. Mardi Gras is less than 1 week away and the festivities are already starting.
Traditionally, a small porcelain baby, symbolizing Jesus, is hidden in the king cake and is a way for residents of New Orleans to celebrate their Christian faith. The baby symbolizes luck and prosperity to whoever finds it.
Mardi Gras is traditionally celebrated on “Fat Tuesday,” the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent, and is usually a culmination of Carnivals. Like many other places around the country, we start celebrating almost the week before.
Head over to your nearest Little Pub to join in on all of the fun, they are running specials until Fat Tuesday, and trust us, you don’t want to miss out.
Specials Include:
BabyCakes™ – Funfetti cake-filled egg rolls dusted with powdered sugar. Legend states that some BabyCakes™ contain a magical baby that can ensure good luck to the recipient for the rest of the year
Dressed Shrimp Po’ Boy – Crunchy deep-fried shrimp on a soft grinder roll “dressed” with shredded iceberg lettuce, sliced tomatoes, pickles, and, of course, some N’Awlins remoulade
Little Pub Jambalaya – A rich stew of chicken, andouille sausage, and red beans over a pile of Creole “dirty rice” topped with grilled shrimp
All Little Pub locations will be hosting the specials, so don’t worry, it’s convenient for everyone! They have locations in Fairfield, Wilton, Greenwich, Old Saybrook, and Stratford. Happy Fat Tuesday and Ash Wednesday! Make sure to check out our latest post at instagram.com/203local
