When did you open Plaza Deli?
- “We opened Plaza Deli in 1997”
Has this been a life-long dream or a spontaneous decision?
- “I grew up in the restaurant business and was the only sibling to go to college. My brother Lou opened Plaza Deli but I became the owner in the year 2000. “
Tell me a little about your background in the food industry and yourself.
- “In the summertime, I used to work in a deli and loved the fast pace and interaction with customers. I always loved coming up with creative sandwiches that would put smiles on my customer’s faces.”
Is there a specific reason you chose SoNo over other towns?
- “Always was fond of Norwalk and opportunity arose and we went for it.”
What’s your favorite thing on the menu?
- “I have 3 favorites. Chicken cutlet, tuna salad and chicken salad. “
What’s something on the menu that you believe should be getting more attention than it is?
- “We make delicious Avocado toast and really yummy omelets. Our breakfast sandwiches are delicious as well.”
Are you working on anything new or updating anything?
- “We will be adding lattes cappuccino and Expresso in fall. We will also be adding online ordering.”
What’s the weirdest order you’ve ever gotten?
- “The Weirdest order I have ever gotten was a Tuna salad sandwich with an over-easy egg cooked on it. Lol.”
How many egg cartons do you go through a month?
- “Covid has impacted our breakfast business however we go through 225 dozen eggs a month.”
Other general comments or something you’d like to share?
- “We have been proudly serving Sono for over 25 yrs and have met so many great customers. We truly enjoy what we do and love our customers. We always say “You come to Plaza Deli as a customer and leave as a friend”..!”
