Downtown Bridgeport’s restaurant scene is definitely coming up!  We are excited to announce one of their fairly new ones, 29 Markle CT.  Their art filled walls make it a unique dining experience for everyone.  Menu options ranging from salt roasted beets, curry dumplings, smoked fried chicken to fried black rice with crab, 29 Markle CT, is sure to be a refreshing addition to Connecticut and to downtown Bridgeport’s dining scene.

29 Markle CT provides a space for diners to experience a great seasonal meal and feel comfortable in an eclectic ambiance. With head bartender Razul Branch serving up a variety of classic cocktails, and a great selection of top shelf liquor and wines.  29 Markle CT is the perfect setting for a night out with friends and family, as well as a premiere location for networking & business professionals (considering its location).

Chef Damon Daye and owner/partners, Wesley Arbuthnot, and Ishalee Green are creating “partnerships that are nourishing, that create a story of us.” By getting the bulk of their produce from local farms within the community of Bridgeport, the restaurant aims to encourage beneficial and long-term partnerships for small businesses throughout the city.

Chef Damon’s food journey began because he was a vegetarian for over a decade.  Growing up in a southern home and being vegetarian he needed to learn how to cook for himself.  This opened up so many doors for him.

Not only was Damon offered a job at Eleven Madison Park he was also given the opportunity to run a food truck.  Turning down the job at Eleven Park Madison, however, accepting the offer to run the food truck!  The Steak Truck gave him resources to create his own thing from the ground up and make his own schedule.  The success of The Steak Truck was tremendous.  You can find The Steak Truck is in many locations like New York City and Westchester, but most importantly, right here in our home!  While enjoying a show at Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater, make sure to visit the Steak Truck.  Mentioned by Micaela Marshall, “We ran into chef at our bud’s box at Hartford Healthcare Amp when he was bringing up some boxes of his delicious steak for everyone in the box to sample. Next time we hit up a show, we made it a point to swing by and grab one of these amazing boxes of deliciousness. Fries on the bottom topped with marinated steak and sautéed onions. It was literally the best thing we have ever had from a food truck. When we saw they were going to be at the inaugural Sound on Sound Festival at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, we made sure to have the interns swing by to sample a box and feature it in our social.”

Because of all their success at 29 Markle Chef Damon and Partners are currently renovating the space next door for private parties and an extension of the dining room.  29 Markle was opened up in an old Turkish restaurant and is located around the block from Ralph and Richies.  Chef Damon mentioned that there should be ‘some menu changes’ so ‘stick to 29 Markle’s seasonal approach.’  There should also be some menu additions as well!
