Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, a famous ice cream shop that originated from NYC, has recently opened its first CT location in Greenwich. The co-founders, Ben and Pete Van Leeuwen and Laura O’Neill, started selling ice cream in a yellow truck in Soho NYC during 2008. Their goal was to not only provide delicious scoops of ice cream, but also to make sure that they were made with pure, fresh ingredients. In addition to the basic flavors we all love, Van Leeuwen has also created unique flavors such as their popular Earl Grey tea and Honeycomb. They also started a Vegan line which is made with dairy-free milks, such as their Cashew Milk Rocky Road or Oat Milk Brown Sugar Chunk.

Located in the heart of Greenwich Ave, Van Leeuwen has expanded to one of their first suburban locations. The storefront was buzzing with family, friends, and fellow influencers for a special media night on their first day. We ended up ordering their Vegan Peanut Butter Brownie Honeycomb flavor as well as their Vegan Strawberry Shortcake with rainbow sprinkles … in a cone of course. Both flavors were delicious dairy free options! To end the night, we had the opportunity to meet with the owners outside.

Not only does Van Leeuwen have scoop shops in NJ, NY, CT, CA, PA, and TX, but they are now in major grocery chains such as Whole Foods. If there isn’t one near you, check out their online shop which delivers both their normal and vegan ice cream flavors straight to your front door!
