Alexa’s Story
Jeff DeNitto is a 25 year member of the Fairfield Fire Department. His 31 year old daughter, Alexa has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. Unfortunately, it took medical professionals 2 years and multiple surgeries to finally identify this life altering disease. The extended period of time that it took to determine the cause has allowed the cancer to spread to her abdominal areas, as well as her lymph nodes. This is a cancer that is commonly found in younger women and is known to be stubborn and has a high chance of reoccurrence. Alexa is a single mother to a special needs toddler and will begin chemotherapy treatments at the end of August. Funds raised will help to cover the hidden costs of cancer treatment. These costs include caregiving for the patient and the child, gas, parking, supplies, loss of income, wigs and other expenses that may cause a financial hardship.
Marissa’s Story
Tim Firla is an 18 year member of the Fairfield Fire Department. His wife Marissa, is currently undergoing treatments for stage 4 colon cancer, which has spread to her liver. The couple has two children. Marissa has been fighting since Labor Day 2023. She has undergone 5 surgeries and spent a month in the hospital recovering. She has completed 12 of the necessary 16 chemo treatments. Funds will help to cover medical expenses, meals, travel and other unforeseen expenses. “
