Nutmeg & Oak + Present Company have paired together to create a once-in-a-lifetime dinner on the scenic Farmington River on July 24th from 6:00 until 9:30 pm in Tariffville, CT. Join them for a four-course, farm-to-table dinner, paired with selected wines from Sommelier and General Manager, Scott Reynolds.
This event will be enjoyed with live music under the trees, served with aperitifs & their signature seaweed popcorn! The first of the courses will be a refreshing Salad Gourmande followed by a Seacoast Mushroom Pasta as a second course. Next, a choice of Confit of Suckling Berkshire Pork Chop or a Branzino en Papillote. For a sweet treat after dinner, a beautiful blueberry coffee cake will be served.

What’s special about this event that differs from others you’ve done?
“I started Nutmeg & Oak two years ago, and I’ve had a lot of people support me along the way. What’s incredibly exciting about this event is the partnership and coloration with many women owned businesses that I hold near and dear to my heart. We have over 10 businesses creating this event together from the tablescape, music, wines , media and it really will be a special evening of celebrating our local community.”
Is there something you’re most excited for? Why should people come to this event?
“Jeff Lizzote and the present company team have created an outstanding menu, and effortlessly paired French wine to compliment. We’ve kicked it up a notch for this event by adding decor, music, and little details that are going to surprise and delight guests throughout their evening.”
What do you love most about the venue?
“SO many things!
The inside seating in this venue makes it the perfect size for something intimate and personalized. The interactive chef’s kitchen is something like I’ve never seen before here in CT. You get front row seats of the beautifully orchestrated kitchen hand crafting each individual meal with a simple “yes, chef”.
Tell me a little about yourself and why you decided to pursue this career!
“I’ve always found the hospitality and travel industry so alluring, versatile and fulfilling. I knew I wanted to tie my love for event planning, business development and marketing to showcase local brands and businesses in a unique and memorable way. After working for corporate companies for many years- I decided to launch nutmeg & oak to make that dream into a reality. I’ll be celebrating my 2 year anniversary in October.”
Are there any new things you’re working on recently?
The team and I are in the process of building a brewery and event space in Bridgeport CT. We’re bringing in tons of unique factors like foreign cars, numerous event spaces to customize your personal celebrations , local art exhibitions- and of course , we will have a heavy focus on the culinary and beverage program. This won’t be your average taproom.

Present Company opened in August 2016 and is located in a 19th century mill building. Since then, Chef/Owner Jeff Lizotte, has been in the kitchen with his team creating and refining his French-American cuisine with inspiration from around the world. A Simsbury native, Chef Jeff has honed his craft at the renowned bistro, La Tupina, in Bordeaux, France, La Bastide Saint-Antoine, in Grasse, France, the three Michelin starred, Le Bernadin, in New York City and, as the executive chef at the iconic ON20 in Hartford, CT. He was nominated for his first James Beard award in 2017 and in 2019, he was awarded the Connecticut Restaurant Association, Chef of the Year.
