After a day full of drinking lots of Guinness, doing all the car bombs, and filling up on delicious corned beef the next morning definitely sounds a little scary. Especially this year with St. Patrick’s Day being on a Friday, that only means double the celebrations!
Everyone has their own different ways of coping with a hangover. A morning drink may be the last thing you want after a night of partying, but that’s exactly what this quirky English expression means. Originally, the expression referred to a method of treating a rabid dog bite; hair from the dog was placed in the wound. So in that sense, having another drink (any drink) is like taking hair from the dog that bit you.
(By the way, medical professionals do not prescribe alcoholic drinks to treat the symptoms of a hangover. However, they do encourage drinking water and getting rest.)
Saturday March 18th, one week from today, it’s the morning after St. Patrick’s day and for some it might be tough to roll out of bed and get up for a little activity. You might need an incentive or a push, maybe join some friends. Good thing we have the perfect thing, “The Hair of the Dog” 5K Race. Hosted by the Little Pub in the Lordship section of Stratford. It will feature some amenities you don’t often find in a local run as part of the incentives. Featuring a little taste of what might’ve bit you the night before.
Created by the overly active minds which brought you the Happy HolloWINE 5K, the Cow Chip run, the once-in-a-lifetime ‘Consecutive Numbers on the Calendar’ 9K, and many more.
Here are your incentives:
