The Knicks are advancing, Derby Day is here, and Rhino just announced something brand new: their first-ever bartender competition, coming to Black Rock this July. Details are still under wraps, but if you know Rhino, you know it’s going to be loud, competitive, and extremely fun. They’re also teasing new monthly specials (and yes—they are YES), plus Star Wars trivia is landing this Monday in both South Norwalk and Black Rock. Add in a food truck that’s bouncing between carnivals all month, and May is already off to a strong start.
Derby Day at All 3 Locations
Saturday, May 2nd is all about juleps, big hats, long shots, and Derby-inspired eats. Rhino is going all-in with engraved Woodford Reserve bottles for the winners of their Best Dressed and Best Hat contests, plus scratch tickets for extra prizes. All TVs. Full sound. Full chaos. If you’re looking for a place to watch the race with a crowd that commits to the bit, this is it.
Star Wars Trivia: May the 4th Be With You
This Monday night—May 4th—Rhino is hosting Star Wars trivia in South Norwalk and Black Rock. Expect themed rounds, die-hard fans, and at least one table that shows up in costume. If you know the difference between a parsec and a protocol droid, you’ll be in good shape.
Where’s the Truck?
Rhino’s food truck is deep in carnival season. This weekend it’s hitting the Rowayton Carnival on Friday and Saturday, followed by the Hindley Elementary Carnival in Darien next weekend. If you’ve been waiting to catch the truck for the first time this season, now’s your chance.

Derby specials are running at all three locations, including:
- Honey Bourbon Meatballs – flash fried and sautéed in honey bourbon sauce
- Brisket Sliders – bourbon BBQ, pickled jalapeños, cheddar
- Derby Pie – chocolate chips, pecans, bourbon, whipped cream, chocolate & caramel drizzle

Cocktail Corner
This month’s featured cocktail is the Apricot Lady—Bacardi, Luxardo apricot liqueur, triple sec, lime juice—available at all three locations.
The Martini of the Month, Peel the Love, mixes blood orange, lemon, grapefruit, elderflower, agave, and champagne. It’s bright, citrusy, and built for warm weather.

NBA and NHL playoffs are on at all three locations, and Rhino continues its tradition of Trivia Every Tuesday across the board. If you’re looking for a place to watch the games with energy, this is the spot.
