The heart and soul of any tavern lie in its menu, and the Spotted Horse is no exception. From mouthwatering burgers and hearty sandwiches to gourmet salads and seafood delicacies, there’s something to please every palate.
Heres what we got the pleasure of trying:
Starting off with appetizers…
This refreshing burrata salad just melts in your mouth. A very creamy and mouth watering dish that will catch you coming back for more!
Next up: This tuna tartare knocked us out of the water! It was paired perfectly with crunchy plantain chips and avocado. The presentation was beautiful, definitely a highlight of this visit!
The tavern’s drink menu is an impressive a selection of craft beers, fine wines, and expertly crafted cocktails. Heres what we decided to try! On the left is the huckleberry mojito, followed by the watermelon martini. Both cocktails were very refreshing with the perfect amount of sweetness.
For the main event we tried their steak frites. This was an incredible dish that made you feel right at home. If your a meat lover, this has to be on your list to try.
You cant end any meal without something sweet! We couldnt pass up this bread pudding. It was warm, delectable, and had a perfect amount of cinnamon. Absolutely no crumbs were left behind. A perfect way to end off this experience!
Of course we had to pair the dessert with an espresso martini. The only way to do it!
We had the pleasure of chatting with one of the managers at Spotted Horse. We asked him what dishes we should try next time and he said the brussel sprouts and the pork chop are a must. Along with the shelton wave to drink! He gave us the inside scoop of whats new to come at the tavern, and he said get ready for some new fall menu items to be released!
As we conclude our culinary journey through The Spotted Horse, it’s clear that this hidden gem in Westport, CT, is a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience. About Spotted Horse Westport:
A collaboration from seasoned restaurateurs Kevin McHugh, Pete Menonna, Tommy Febbraio, and Marc Murphy, the team behind Southport’s jammin’ little hideaway, The Gray Goose Café, the Spotted Horse Tavern is a neighborhood respite where folks gather over great food and drink. Housed in Westport’s historic Sherwood House (circa 1808), the design is modern in its interpretation, with a nod to the historic building’s colonial past. The menu is in keeping with our local food movement but we don’t beat you over the head with it. Organic, clean, distinctive flavors find their way into each dish by way of unique ingredient combinations and thoughtful preparations, and favorite comfort foods are left to speak for themselves.
