About The Westport Farmers Market:
In June of 2006, Paul Newman and Michel Nischan planted a seed and they opened their doors in the parking lot of the Westport Country Playhouse. They were so proud of their 14 vendors, and so grateful for the 500 shoppers who showed up to support them.
In 2009, they moved to their current home at 50 Imperial Avenue, a stone’s throw from the Saugatuck River. With a little more space and a little more air, they began to put down roots. They started expanding their programming, and their role within the community.
By 2010, they welcomed winter by expanding their market to cover the colder months, too. Gilbertie’s Herb Garden embraced them with open arms, and before they knew it, the vendors and shoppers had doubled.
Their Mission – The Westport Farmers Market is committed to providing fresh, local, healthy and seasonal food. They aspire to create a fun, safe and healthy community environment for education and socialization. Their mission is to increase awareness, knowledge and support for local producers focused on sustainable and healthy growing practices.
